Quick start
Welcome to 9brains
Section titled “Welcome to 9brains”9brains is your AI platform for everyday work. You can ask questions, draft texts, analyze data, process files, access internal company knowledge, and set up your own agents for recurring tasks, all GDPR-compliant and with full data sovereignty.
First login
Section titled “First login”- You receive an invitation email from your administrator
- Click the link in the email and create your password
- If your company uses Microsoft SSO, you sign in directly with your Microsoft account
- After signing in, you land straight in the chat
Tip: If your administrator has enabled two-factor authentication (MFA), you will be asked to set it up on your first login. You need an authenticator app on your smartphone for this (for example Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator).
The user interface at a glance
Section titled “The user interface at a glance”Sidebar (left)
Section titled “Sidebar (left)”The sidebar is your central navigation point:
- Chat: Start a new conversation or continue working in your chat history
- Agents: Persistent digital colleagues with their own memory and optional triggers (see Agents)
- Search: Searches chats and threads by keyword (⌘K as an overlay)
- Settings: Personal and administrative settings
- Workspace switcher: If you have access to multiple workspaces
At the bottom edge you will find your profile menu with access to the settings.
Chat area (center)
Section titled “Chat area (center)”The main area where you communicate with the AI:
- Input field: This is where you type your message
- Model selector: Choose the AI model for your chat
- File upload: Attach files to your message
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Through the profile menu you reach the settings, organized into:
- Personal settings: Appearance, form of address, response behavior
- Security: Password and MFA
- Knowledge: Manage knowledge bases (see Knowledge management)
- Tools: Set up integrations (see Integrations & Tools)
Administrators additionally see: users, groups, AI models, workspace, billing, and usage analytics.
Your first message
Section titled “Your first message”- Click “New chat”
- Type your question or task into the input field, for example:
- “Summarize the most important points from the document for me”
- “Write a professional email to a customer”
- “Explain the difference between revenue and profit”
- Press Enter or click the send button
The AI responds in real time, you see the response appear word by word.
